An important statement by Nureddin Cosan:  "Voting on the deal is a matter of belief."

The leader of the Iskenderpasha Community and the founder of Commonsense (Sagduyu) Party made a statement regarding the deal [between the Turkish and U.S. governments] that is subject to approval by the Turkish Grand National Assembly.  In the press release, Nureddin Cosan stated the following:

"We are living a difficult time in which the independence and future of our nation is threaten by the despotism and insolence.  Shouldering a historic duty, the Commonsense Party is inviting the authorities and the government to produce and follow straight procedures and politics.  We ought to review our history.  We have to analyze the conditions and grounds on which we had friendly and peaceful relationships with our neighbors.  We have to strengthen the common grounds.  We should not emphasize the differences to a level that risks the peace.  If one looks for differences, the fingerprints are different for each individual.  In fact, the unity in the creation is the only solution for the mankind.  We ought to be strong!  We have the belief!  The power does not rest on guns or money, but on justice, truthfulness and the truth.

"Dear representatives of the AKP (Justice and Development Party)!  The benefits may be in the long run, and the medicine may be bitter.  Do not be emotional about the issue.  The voting on this deal is a matter of belief.  Keep your commonsense!  Be fair and equitable!  Do not repeat the mistakes that our politicians made in the past.  Do what is right as expected of you with your responsibilities [towards people who elected you]. "
